If you are considering buying a bamboo or other hardwood floor, Janka's hardness scale can be a very useful and insightful tool. The hardness scale of Janka is used to measure the hardness and density of a bamboo or other wood floor material. Specifically, the Janka test measures the force required to push a 11.28 millimeter diameter steel ball into the wood at half-ball diameter. The diameter is chosen so that the area of the comprised circle is about 100 square millimeters.
The higher the material's assessment on the Janka's scale, the corresponding material is harder and more durable than the floor covering.
When assessing a rusty extruded bamboo, a bamboo of strand woven bamboo, it's important to note that, unlike traditional or carbonated bamboo (vertical or horizontal), the bamboo of strand woven bamboo has extraordinary durability and stiffness. After analyzing various evaluations, the bamboo of strand woven bamboo is evaluated at a minimum of 2900 points, which allows us to describe it as extremely durable and solid material. Depending on the technical parameters of this material, this flooring is recommended as a great choice for those customers who need to wear and other highly durable coatings for environmental stimuli (for example, keeping dogs with small children).
Note:
It is recommended to use the Janka scale only as general guidelines for comparing different types of wooden floors. The results may vary, depending on where the wood was cut.
The Janka scale gives a general understanding of the hardness of the wood, but the longevity of the flooring is determined by many other factors, including cutting method (simple cutting, radial cutting), cell density, decoration, construction.
The Janka hardness test - is a measure of the force required for the ball to be pressed.
